Learning French in Style
What is your learning style? Most people have preferred learning style, although everyone will use different styles at
different times. It is important that any course, especially a language course provides support for all of the styles.
There are 3 main learning styles:
Auditory Learners

If you are an auditory learner then you will learn to speak French best through listening. All kinds of listening such as
lectures, talking or just simply hearing things. Auditory learners are good at interpreting the pitch, tone and other characteristics of
speech. They learn best by hearing first, repeating and practicing saying things aloud.
| The audio lessons on Rocket French are ideal for this sort of learner, especially when used along with the
transcripts to link the written words to the sounds. The grammar lessons have many clickable audio tracks so that the auditory
learner can relate to the french spellings and constructions. The games, especially MegaAudio will help this sort of
learner. |
Visual Learners

If you are a visual learning then you learn best by watching. Visual learners tend to think in pictures and learn well
from visual displays such as diagrams, pictures, organisation diagrams, charts etc. They like to have detailed notes and can take in written
information well.
| The grammer lessons in Rocket French provide ample opportunities for the visual learner as they are carefully
layed out with diagrams and pictures. A visual learner can click the word to hear the correct pronunciation. This will help them
to link the word and the sound. The audio lessons can be used with the transcripts - possibly reading the transcripts first - to
enable them to visualise the meaning. The MegaVocab game will support this type of learner, again by linking words, pictures and
sounds. |
Kinesthetic Learners

If you are a Kinesthetic learner then you learn by doing and moving. You probably like sports and exercise, and
other physical activities such as gardening, woodworking or just walking. Kinesthetic learners tend to like to move around and may need
to change activity regularly to prevent being distracted. They prefer the hands-on approach and like to explore a subject.
| The games in Rocket French allow the kinesthetic learner to explore the language in a less structured way, using
the games as break from the main course. The audio lessons will allow the learner to move around whilst learning. The grammer
lessons are short enough to be taken in short bursts so as not to lose interest. The bonus MegaCards game will escpecially help
this type of learner becasue they can touch and move them around. |
